Annual cover explained

What is Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance?

Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance is a policy that can cover multiple holidays during a 12-month period. Instead of arranging separate insurance for every journey, you purchase one policy for all eligible trips taken during the policy year.

It can be a convenient option if you are planning several holidays, European city breaks, UK trips or worldwide travel during the year. The geographical area you select must cover every destination on your itinerary.

Covered2Go offers Silver, Gold and Platinum cover levels. The right option will depend on your destinations, the length of each trip, your planned activities and the level of protection you require.

Annual Multi-Trip cover at a glance

Multiple eligible trips during a 12-month period

Trips of up to 31 days as standard

Available for travellers up to age 85. If you’re aged 65 or over, you can also learn more about travel insurance for over 65s.

When should your policy start? If you already have a holiday booked, your Annual Multi-Trip policy should normally start straight away rather than on the date of your first departure, so eligible cancellation cover is in place. Cover limits, terms, conditions and exclusions apply.

Is annual cover right for you?

Who is Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance suitable for?

Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance can be suitable for people planning more than one holiday during the year. It allows you to arrange cover once rather than purchasing a separate policy before every eligible trip.

Several holidays

Frequent holidaymakers

A convenient option if you are planning several holidays, short breaks or trips during the same policy year.

Short breaks

Regular city-break travellers

Useful for travellers who enjoy regular European weekends, city breaks or spontaneous getaways throughout the year.

Shared cover

Couples and families taking multiple holidays may find one annual policy more convenient than arranging cover for each trip.

Different destinations

Europe and worldwide travellers

Suitable for multiple trips across Europe or worldwide, provided your selected geographical area covers every destination.

Planning one holiday or a longer trip?
Single Trip Travel Insurance or Longstay Travel Insurance may be more suitable, depending on your travel dates and trip duration.

Trip duration

45 and 60-Day Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance

Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance covers multiple eligible holidays during the 12-month policy period, with a maximum duration applying to each individual trip. Covered2Go includes trips of up to 31 days as standard.

If you are planning longer holidays, the maximum duration of each trip can be extended to 45 days or 60 days for an additional premium. This can make annual cover suitable for travellers who expect to take several holidays during the year but need more than the standard 31 days for one or more of those trips. The appropriate extension must be selected and shown on your policy schedule.

Included as standard

31 days

Each individual holiday can last for up to 31 days under the standard Annual Multi-Trip policy.

Optional extension

45 days

Choose the 45-day extension if you need annual travel insurance with trips lasting up to 45 days. The extension applies to the maximum duration of each eligible trip and requires an additional premium.

Optional extension

60 days

Choose the 60-day extension if you need annual multi-trip travel insurance with trips lasting up to 60 days. The extension requires an additional premium and must be shown on your policy schedule.

Check the duration of every planned trip

The appropriate trip-duration extension must be selected, any additional premium must be paid and the extension must appear on your policy schedule. Annual Winter Sports cover has a maximum of 30 days in total during the policy period.

Planning one journey lasting longer than 60 days?
Single Trip Travel Insurance or Longstay Travel Insurance may be more suitable.

Medical conditions

Can Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance cover pre-existing medical conditions?

Yes, cover may be available for a wide range of pre-existing medical conditions following medical screening. Having a medical condition does not automatically mean you will be unable to purchase Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance.

Each traveller’s circumstances are considered individually. An additional premium or special policy terms may apply, depending on the outcome of the screening.

Conditions covered automatically

The policy automatically covers acid or gastric reflux, acne, blindness or partial sight, cataracts, deafness or partial hearing loss, glaucoma, hay fever, hypothyroidism, IBS and PCOS. These conditions do not need to be declared and no additional premium applies.

When medical screening is required

Except for the automatically covered conditions, you must declare relevant medical conditions for which you have received treatment, advice or medication during the last 12 months. An additional premium and medical screening endorsement may apply.

Changes to your health

Because an annual policy can cover several holidays, you must report relevant changes to your health before booking or taking an individual trip. Your cover may need to be reviewed before you travel.

Important exclusions

What isn’t covered by Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance?

Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance is designed to cover unexpected insured events, but it does not cover every situation. Common exclusions and circumstances where cover may not apply include the following.

Undeclared medical conditions

Medical claims may not be covered if a relevant condition has not been declared when required, accepted following medical screening or updated after a change in health.

Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance FAQs

Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance covers multiple eligible holidays during a 12-month policy period. Instead of buying separate travel insurance for every trip, you arrange one policy covering the travellers, destinations and activities shown on your policy schedule.

Each trip can last for up to 31 days as standard. This can be extended to 45 or 60 days for an additional premium. The appropriate extension must be selected and shown on your policy schedule before you travel.

If you already have a holiday booked, your policy should normally start straight away rather than on your departure date. Eligible cancellation cover only begins from the policy start date, so delaying the start could leave an upcoming holiday without cancellation protection.

Annual cover may offer better value if you are taking several holidays, but this is not guaranteed. Your premium will depend on traveller ages, destinations, trip duration, cover level, optional extras and declared medical conditions.

Covered2Go offers options for UK, European, Australia and New Zealand, and worldwide travel. Your selected geographical area must cover every destination you plan to visit during the policy year, including relevant stopovers.

Eligible UK trips can be covered, provided they include at least two consecutive nights in pre-booked accommodation. UK cover can include trips within England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Yes, cover may be available for a wide range of pre-existing medical conditions following medical screening. Relevant conditions must be declared when required and accepted before cover can apply. You must also report relevant changes to your health before booking or taking another trip.

Cruise-specific benefits and winter sports protection are not automatically included. The relevant cover must be selected, any additional premium paid and the option shown on your policy schedule. Annual Winter Sports cover allows a maximum of 30 winter sports days in total during the policy period.

Covered2Go Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance is available for eligible travellers up to age 85. Travellers above this age may wish to consider Single Trip Travel Insurance, which is available up to age 99.

Cover may not apply if a trip exceeds the maximum duration shown on your policy schedule. If an individual journey will last longer than 60 days, Single Trip or Longstay Travel Insurance may be more suitable.
