Covered2go’s Charity travel insurance partnership with the World wildlife fund (WWF) began back in 2009 when we heard of the decline of the Svalbard Polar Bears on Norway’s Svalbard islands. Although we love most creatures that grace the planet, we do have a special fondness for these huge white bears and our Charity travel insurance partnership allows us to sponsor these beautiful creatures with a view to helping secure a brighter future for them.
Polar bears are found in the Arctic landscapes of Canada, Greenland, Norway, Russia and Alaska. Research has shown that more than a quarter of polar bear populations are in decline. The drop in populations can be traced to another decline: that of sea ice, reduced by climate change. Sea ice is the polar bears' primary habitat and they rely on it for survival. WWF has been studying the effects of climate change on polar bears for a number of years and our charity travel insurance sponsorship helps them to find more information on how we can stop the decline of the Polar Bear.
